Here’s a typical 10′ curved booth background with 6′ roll-up side banners. We did everything here, including the table skirt and flyers in the plastic display-stands – we even did the magazine cover, helped design the shirts. This client is part of our “Fractional CMO” service with design by subscription.

Note trade shows have the highest CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost) of any channel ($801 is the official average as of 2019), however, they are high trust due to meeting in person and for certain industries are an unbeatable growth channel.

If you serve high-value clients or tactile services best seen in person, trade shows can perform well.

Note costs can vary wildly. A local bridal show might be under $2k, while national conventions can run more than $5k just for booth space, with printing costs, hotels, travel pushing the budget to $10k+ for even a modest booth.

That said, the closing ratios we believe can be higher for certain industries, including the above high-trust-sale product.

A few tips on live events and working with a trade show booth designer:

 1. The background should just set the tone and start a conversation.

 2. Don’t forget to promote the event on your social media and other channels! Even for the people not going to the event, it helps relatability and legitimacy.

 3. Most conventions also have a program guide, and often a grab bag or swag-bag; this can contain a postcard or two sided business card

 4. Videos on repeat work well for certain industries, but we do not recommend any dialogue on these, and usually just put subtitles for people to read. Clients then buy a TV (and return it, frankly) or rent a TV from the convention hall. We have found audio dialogue can fight for attention with the staff and recommend just low background music.

 5. QR codes for lead capture can be helpful. We can help with these of course; ensure they are to a URL you can edit anytime.
